About the Gallery

Narine Kchikian has been curator for the Community Arts @ Paramount Gallery in Ferndale since December 1, 2006. Ms. Kchikian will be responsible for organizing and selecting future gallery exhibits and featured artists’ work for the gallery.

She received her MFA degree in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005, and her BFA from the Center for Creative Studies in 1997. Originally from Kazakhstan, Ms. Kchikian relocated to Detroit in 1991 and has become an active member of the Detroit art community, exhibiting her own work locally and internationally, as well as organizing and curating exhibitions, teaching, and conducting seminars and workshops.

About her vision for the gallery, Ms Kchikian says:

"I believe in Detroit and view this as an opportunity to use my energy to develop one more interesting location that showcases art to the Detroit art community. Ferndale is an ideal location for Community Arts @ Paramount Gallery as it is centered in the midst of a number of exceptional galleries and in a community that truly appreciates high-quality artwork. I believe there is much work by local artists that is of this caliber and deserves a chance to be known. I am pleased to see local businesses like Paramount Bank recognize the many benefits of bringing art to the local community. I hope what I do will encourage other businesses to join Paramount Bank in such endeavors to make contributions locally that have a major impact on the entire Detroit Metro area community."
