Says the artists' collective statement: "By using the language of these value systems, the artwork in this show explored the nuances this contradictory paradigm represents."
Having received training at three different Detroit area institutions; Cranbrook Academy of Art, Wayne State University and Oakland Community College - all three of the artists are inspired by the Detroit landscape of ruins as the quintessential exemplar of industrial fallout. Once thriving on burgeoning industry, areas of the city now stand in decline as the "permanence" of American industry and ideals crumble into the heap of 20th century landfills. In the face of this decline, the artists question the value of the object and the integrity of permanence.
